Karin Tabke Announces Round 9...
And I'm not the only one who is following the talent. There is at least one high profile agent scanning our entries. LaDonna has received a request from an agent, based on her 1st line entries! How cool is that? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she gets an offer. Way to go, LaDonna!
Ok, here is my entry with the next line added. Hope you like it. :-)
Elizabeth squeezed her eyes tight and turned her face away from the wicked-looking blade. She’d seen what it could do. Knew first hand the destruction it could bring.
The death.
“Please,” she whispered, a tear slipping down her cheek. “I...I can’t do this.”Cold steel grazed the skin exposed by her low bodice and she flinched. Her tormentor shifted closer in the confined carriage. “Oh, but you will.
In preparation for another contest, I recently went back and read the first 30 pages of Andromeda's Tear. And, I realized something about my writing. I like to start off with a bang. I mean, in the thick of it. Action right from the start. I guess I write what I like to read and watch. I'm an action flick kind of girl. I think I've mentioned this before. Give me a good Sci-Fi or adventure and I'm in heaven. Even more so, if there is a strong romance. I want to start off running and keep on going to the end of the story.
So, what is your favorite type of opening to a book? Do you like to start mid action? Or do you like a subtle build to the climax?

Thanks, Roger! I don't know if you've gone to Karin's site to see the competition. But there are a ton of very talented writers there and some amazing stories taking shape. It's getting hard to see anyone cut.
